Hi all...sad news. We had to put Reggie down this morning. We took him into the vet on Saturday to have some tests run since kidney failure seems to be a common flaw with this breed. The last two nights have been sleepless as Reggie was vomiting and unable to eat or drink water. We pretty much knew it was the end of the line but we wanted to be 100% certain with the tests. We went into the vet first thing this morning and they had the results back. Some of the kidney functions were off the charts and the vet said it was the worst he has ever seen. I think it gives a lot of creedence to the breed of how tolerant and kind they are. He was not really in pain but was wasting away fast. He lost 2 pounds just in the time we had him. We both stayed with him all night and became very attached to him quickly in the short time he was with us.
It was a sad moment for Bari and I but we take console that Reggie probably had the best and most loving 2 weeks since his original owners died. He went peacefully and is also now reunited with his original owners. He will be missed by all of us including Frodo.
